- Megapixels

Scale needed from common sizes
Sources are rotated to match the target shape. Upscaling always overshoots a little, so resize down afterwards.

How to upscale to 5K
- Check your image size in pixels (Get Info on Mac, Properties on Windows, or drop it in the upscaler).
- Find the scale in the table or type your size into the calculator.
- Upscale with that scale. The smallest scale that reaches the target is the fastest. If the table says 4× then resize, the next step covers the rest.
- Resize to exactly 5,120 × 2,880 with the resize tool.
Questions
How many pixels is 5K?
5,120 × 2,880, which is 14.7 megapixels in a 16:9 shape.
What scale takes a 1080p image to 5K?
4×. 1920 × 1080 becomes 7,680 × 4,320, then resize or crop to exactly 5,120 × 2,880.
Will an upscaled image look like a native 5K image?
It will look sharp at normal viewing distance, with clean edges and plausible texture. The model invents detail that fits, so tiny text or faces far from the camera will not match a true high-resolution original.
What if my image has a different shape?
Crop to 16:9 first with the crop tool, then upscale. Otherwise one side lands on the target and the other side overshoots or falls short.
Which scales are free?
2× is free and runs on your device, 5 images a day. 4× needs Pro and runs on your device too.
