BMP output sizes at 2×
Every pixel becomes a 2 × 2 block of 4 new pixels, filled in by the AI model instead of copied. File sizes are estimates for PNG output.
| Source | Output at 2× | Megapixels | Approx. PNG size |
|---|---|---|---|
| 640 × 480 Old webcam or phone | 1,280 × 960 | 1.2 | 2.3 MB |
| 1,024 × 768 Web image | 2,048 × 1,536 | 3.1 | 6.0 MB |
| 1,920 × 1,080 Full HD frame | 3,840 × 2,160 | 8.3 | 16 MB |
| 4,032 × 3,024 12 MP phone photo | 8,064 × 6,048 | 48.8 | 93 MB |
Where it runs and what it costs

- Free, 5 a day

2× is free (5 images a day) and runs on your device, so nothing uploads. Files up to 100 MB work on the free plan, and nothing gets a watermark.
About Bitmap files
Uncompressed Windows bitmap. Large files, so PNG output is usually the better choice.
Output is written as PNG, JPG or WEBP. For BMP input, PNG is the closest match.
How to upscale BMP 2×
- Open the upscaler and drop your .bmp files. Free batches take 5 files, Pro batches take 200.
- Choose 2× and a model: Photo for camera shots, Illustration for art and logos, Scanned text for documents.
- Pick PNG as the output format, or PNG if you need lossless pixels.
- Start the batch and download each file or a ZIP of all of them.
Questions
Is upscaling BMP 2× free?
Yes. The free plan includes 5 upscales a day at 2×, with no watermark and no account needed.
Does my BMP file upload anywhere?
No. At 2× the image is decoded and enlarged inside your browser, and the file never leaves your device.
How big is a BMP after 2× upscaling?
Width and height both grow 2 times, so the pixel count grows 4 times. A 1920 × 1080 image becomes 3,840 × 2,160, about 16 MB as PNG.
Should I save the result as BMP again?
The engine writes PNG, JPG or WEBP. PNG keeps every pixel of the BMP exactly and is far smaller, so it is the right replacement.
When is 2× not enough?
When you need a print or a 4K screen from a small image. A 640 × 480 file only reaches 1280 × 960 at 2×. Check the print size chart to see the pixels you need.
