JPG output sizes at 2×
Every pixel becomes a 2 × 2 block of 4 new pixels, filled in by the AI model instead of copied. File sizes are estimates for JPG output.
| Source | Output at 2× | Megapixels | Approx. JPG size |
|---|---|---|---|
| 640 × 480 Old webcam or phone | 1,280 × 960 | 1.2 | 420 KB |

2× is free (5 images a day) and runs on your device, so nothing uploads. Files up to 100 MB work on the free plan, and nothing gets a watermark.
About JPEG files
Lossy format used by almost every camera and phone. Upscaling also cleans some compression blocks.
Output is written as PNG, JPG or WEBP. For JPG input, JPG is the closest match.
How to upscale JPG 2×
- Open the upscaler and drop your .jpg files. Free batches take 5 files, Pro batches take 200.
- Choose 2× and a model: Photo for camera shots, Illustration for art and logos, Scanned text for documents.
- Pick JPG as the output format, or PNG if you need lossless pixels.
- Start the batch and download each file or a ZIP of all of them.
Questions
Is upscaling JPG 2× free?
Yes. The free plan includes 5 upscales a day at 2×, with no watermark and no account needed.
Does my JPG file upload anywhere?
No. At 2× the image is decoded and enlarged inside your browser, and the file never leaves your device.
How big is a JPG after 2× upscaling?
Width and height both grow 2 times, so the pixel count grows 4 times. A 1920 × 1080 image becomes 3,840 × 2,160, about 2.8 MB as JPG.
Does upscaling fix JPG compression blocks?
Partly. The AI models smooth out many of the 8 × 8 compression blocks while they add detail. Heavy artefacts from a very low quality save will still show.
When is 2× not enough?
When you need a print or a 4K screen from a small image. A 640 × 480 file only reaches 1280 × 960 at 2×. Check the print size chart to see the pixels you need.
