HEIC output sizes at 4×
Every pixel becomes a 4 × 4 block of 16 new pixels, filled in by the AI model instead of copied. File sizes are estimates for JPG output.
| Source | Output at 4× | Megapixels | Approx. JPG size |

4× runs on your device too, so nothing uploads, and needs the Pro plan. Files up to 100 MB work on the free plan, and nothing gets a watermark.
About High Efficiency Image Container files
Default iPhone photo format. Decoded on your device before upscaling, 10-bit files need an 8-bit copy first.
Output is written as PNG, JPG or WEBP. For HEIC input, JPG is the closest match.
How to upscale HEIC 4×
- Open the upscaler and drop your .heic files. Free batches take 5 files, Pro batches take 200.
- Choose 4× and a model: Photo for camera shots, Illustration for art and logos, Scanned text for documents.
- Pick JPG as the output format, or PNG if you need lossless pixels.
- Start the batch and download each file or a ZIP of all of them.
Questions
Is upscaling HEIC 4× free?
4× is part of the Pro plan. The free plan covers 2× for 5 images a day.
Does my HEIC file upload anywhere?
No. At 4× the image is decoded and enlarged inside your browser, and the file never leaves your device.
How big is a HEIC after 4× upscaling?
Width and height both grow 4 times, so the pixel count grows 16 times. A 1920 × 1080 image becomes 7,680 × 4,320, about 11 MB as JPG.
Why do some HEIC photos need an 8-bit copy first?
HEIC from recent iPhones can be 10-bit. Browsers decode 8-bit HEIC reliably, so a 10-bit file may need to be exported as an 8-bit JPG or HEIC first, for example with the Photos app share sheet.
Why does 4× need Pro if it runs on my device?
4× is part of the Pro plan. The work still happens in your browser, so your files do not upload even on Pro.
